Pennsylvania assesses every student in grades 3-8 in English Language Arts and math with the PSSA, and in science in grades 5 and 8, all written to the Pennsylvania Core and academic standards. In high school, Keystone Exams are end-of-course tests in Algebra I, Literature and Biology.
Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) and Keystone Exams, run by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).
From spring 2026 the PSSA and Keystone Exams are online, with paper kept only as an accommodation. The PSSA is given in late April (ELA first, then math and science). PDE's parent guidance estimates about 3-4 hours for ELA, 2-3 hours for math and 1-2 hours for science, split into sections, and a section a student starts must be finished the same day. Keystone Exams are offered in winter, spring and summer windows; each has two modules, roughly 2-3 hours in total.
The PSSA does not decide graduation. The Keystone Exams are part of Pennsylvania's statewide graduation requirement for the Class of 2023 onward, which offers five pathways. One is scoring proficient on all three Keystones; another is a composite score across the three. Other pathways combine course grades with alternative evidence, so check your school's policy.
Set Pennsylvania in your profile and everything is written to Pennsylvania's standards and test style.
Worksheets on any Pennsylvania standard, at the right grade, with an answer key. Regenerate at an easier or harder level for small groups.
Make a worksheet βPractice tests and quizzes that mix the question types students will see, with answer keys, ready to print or share.
Make a practice test βIn the parent-managed study portal, students practice in the real test style with hints, while parents keep answers behind a PIN.
See the study portal βThe Text Dependent Analysis essay is often the hardest part of the PSSA ELA test: students read a passage and write an essay analyzing it, using evidence. Practice reading a short text and writing about how the author develops an idea helps. The study portal generates PSSA-style passages with TDA prompts, math practice and Keystone review, with model answers behind your parent PIN.
Use the test generator to build PSSA-style sets with selected response, evidence-based questions and a TDA prompt, or Keystone module reviews for Algebra I, Literature and Biology, all with answer keys. Worksheets can target a single eligible content code for small-group reteach.
