Common questions
What counts as one 'lesson pack'?
A lesson pack is one complete generation built around a single study guide: a themed slide deck, lesson plan, study guide, worksheet, retrieval starter, plenary and teacher notes - all sharing the same key vocabulary, in one go (plus a reading comprehension for text-rich subjects). Activity sheets and booklets are separate quota items.
Can I really earn money from LessonHQ?
Yes - it's a core feature. Any Educator or Pro subscriber can list packs on the marketplace and set their own price (from $1). When a pack sells, you receive 80% of the sale price. A handful of sales a month can cover your subscription.
What are activity sheets?
Activity sheets are standalone print-ready worksheets generated independently from a lesson pack - starters, knowledge checks, recap tasks, homework sheets, or end-of-topic tests. They're separate from your lesson pack quota.
What generators are available?
LessonHQ has 14 AI generators: Lesson Pack (full resource set), Slide Deck (Google Slides), Worksheet (questions + answer key), Test / Mock Exam (exam-style paper + answer key, auto-marked as online homework), Lesson Plan, Sub Plan (no-prep for a substitute), Activity Sheet, Study Booklet, Study Guide, Exit Ticket (free!), Report Writer, Unit Planner (Pro only), Lesson Series (Pro only) and Feedback Sheet. Each generates a different type of teaching resource. There is also a free Marking Assistant and Markbook, and most generators can make resources in Spanish.
What is the Study Guide generator?
The Study Guide generator produces a print-ready one-page reference sheet with key vocabulary, dates, key people, concepts, formulas and test tips - all on one page. Perfect for review or as a lesson handout. Download as PDF or Word (.docx).
What is the Report Writer?
The Report Writer generates personalized end-of-term report comments for your whole class. Enter up to 30 students with their level and any notes, choose tone (Professional, Warm or Encouraging) and word count, and get unique tailored comments in seconds. Export as CSV.
What is the unit planner?
The unit planner (Pro only) lets you generate an ordered series of connected lessons on a complex topic - with built-in recaps, knowledge checks, and quizzes woven across lessons. Perfect for planning a full unit or marking period.
What is the student portal?
The Student Portal is a separate, parent-controlled area - not part of the teacher subscription tiers. Parents (18+) create an account, add PIN-protected student profiles, and manage all data (children never register directly). Free parent accounts get 8 study sessions a month. It offers homework help and test-practice aligned to Common Core, state standards and AP courses; Student Plus is priced separately at $4.99 per month, covering up to 3 children on your account, billed to the parent. Built for COPPA and US student-privacy laws. Visit /learn to explore it.
How does yearly billing work?
Choosing yearly billing gives you 2 months free, billed as one annual payment. Educator yearly is $69.90/year (vs $83.88 monthly). Pro yearly is $129.90/year (vs $155.88 monthly). You save up to $26 per year.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. The Free plan requires no payment and no card. You get 2 lesson packs, 3 worksheets, 3 lesson plans, 5 activity sheets, 1 booklet and 2 slide decks (lifetime), plus 1 test every 30 days. The 7-day free trials of Educator and Pro do need a card, but nothing is charged for 7 days.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel any time, from Account settings or by choosing Free on this page. Your plan stops at the end of your current billing period: you keep your paid features until then and are not charged again. Cancel during your 7-day free trial and you pay nothing.
