Getting Started

Yes. You can make 3 slide decks straight away with no account and no email: type a topic on the Slide Deck page and watch it build. You can also download a complete free lesson deck from /free. When you want the rest, a free account gives you 2 full lesson packs (plus worksheets, a test and unlimited exit tickets) with no card, and Educator and Pro both start with a 7-day free trial.
Yes. Every account includes 2 free lesson packs, no card needed. Teachers can also try Educator or Pro free for 7 days: we take card details at the start, charge nothing for 7 days, email a reminder 2 days before it ends, and you can cancel any time in Account settings.
LessonHQ has a full suite of generators, each with its own dedicated page: ๐Ÿ“š Lesson Pack (/generate) - a complete classroom pack built around a knowledge organizer (lesson plan, KO, retrieval starter, worksheet, plenary & exit ticket, teacher notes and editable slides); ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Slide Deck (/generate/slides) - standalone presentation slides with real-time preview; ๐Ÿ“„ Worksheet (/generate/worksheet) - printable worksheets with answer keys; ๐ŸŽ“ Test / Mock Exam (/generate/test) - an exam-style end-of-unit test or mock paper with a full answer key, which you can set as online homework that marks itself; ๐Ÿ—’๏ธ Lesson Plan (/generate/lesson-plan) - structured plans aligned to your state standards; ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿซ Sub Plan (/generate/cover-lesson) - a no-prep, self-contained lesson any substitute can deliver; ๐ŸŽฎ Activity Sheet (/generate/activity) - differentiated classroom activities; ๐Ÿ“– Study Booklet (/generate/booklet) - multi-topic study guides; ๐Ÿง  Knowledge Organizer (/generate/knowledge-organiser); ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Exit Ticket (/generate/exit-ticket) - free, no quota; โœ๏ธ Report Writer (/generate/report-writer); ๐Ÿ“ฃ Whole-Class Feedback (/generate/feedback) - turns your grading into a ready-to-display feedback sheet; ๐Ÿ“… Lesson Series (/generate/lesson-series) - a connected sequence of lessons building toward a big question (Pro); and ๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Unit Planner (/generate/unit) - 3-12 connected lessons (Pro); โœ… Marking Assistant (/marking) - mark a student's answer against your answer key or rubric with instant marks and feedback (free); ๐Ÿ“Š Markbook (/markbook) - your class lists with every homework and test score in one grid (free); and ๐Ÿซ Staffroom (/staff) - whole-school & leadership documents (policies, parent letters, newsletters, risk assessments, behavior/support plans, inspection prep, appraisal targets, meeting agendas and more). For high school, most generators let you pick a standards framework (Common Core, NGSS, AP, TEKS and more) so content matches your requirements.
The Sub Plan generator (/generate/cover-lesson) creates a complete, self-contained lesson that any substitute teacher can deliver with zero preparation and no subject knowledge. Each one includes a plain-English overview, a step-by-step run sheet (exactly what to say and do), an information box for students, a print-ready worksheet, the full answers for the substitute, early-finisher and 'if a student is stuck' guidance, and behavior & logistics notes. Export to Word, Google Docs or PDF.
Yes. On most generators, use "Build from your scheme of work" to upload a Word document, a PowerPoint or a PDF (for example your lesson slides or a medium-term plan). LessonHQ reads it and makes the new resource match it. On the Slide Deck, Booklet and other generators you can also upload a whole unit plan and get a resource for every lesson in it. After you generate anything, the "Make a matching" buttons create the worksheet, test, slides or plan that goes with it in one tap.
Yes. Turn on IEP / Accessibility mode, then choose "Pitch the work at" - for example a Grades K-2 level, or functional life skills. The content is pitched at that level, while the tone, examples and pictures stay right for the learner's real age: no cartoons or nursery themes for a post-16 class. The resource keeps its real year group label.
Yes, on Pro and School plans. In Settings, add your school name, brand colour and logo once. Every new slide deck and document then carries them, in every download: PowerPoint, Google Slides, Word, Google Docs and PDF.
Yes. Maths decks draw number lines, fraction bars and bar models from the actual numbers, so the picture always matches the text. They export as real, editable shapes in PowerPoint and Google Slides.
Yes. The Test / Mock Exam generator (/generate/test) builds an end-of-unit test or a full mock paper in real exam style, with marks per question and a complete answer key. You can download it as Word or PDF, or set it as online homework: students answer on their phone or computer, the multiple-choice questions mark themselves, and the scores go straight into your Markbook. Free accounts get 1 test a month, Educator 10 and Pro 30.
My week (/my-week) is a free weekly planner for teachers, on every plan including Free. Enter your timetable and the list of topics for each class once, and it shows this week and next week with the next lesson for every class and a one-click "Make it" button that opens the generator with the topic, grade and subject already filled in. Tick lessons off as done, skip school breaks so topics carry over, and if you like, get a "Your week ahead" email on Sunday at 4pm (your local time).
The Markbook (/markbook) is a free class gradebook. Add your class lists once, set homework or a test to a class, and every student's score fills in automatically, with class averages, a traffic-light view and the question most of the class got wrong. You can export it as a CSV file for Excel. Students type their own name, and LessonHQ matches it to your class list; anything it cannot match safely is shown separately rather than guessed.
Yes. Choose Spanish in the Resource language box on any generator (except the Report Writer and Feedback Sheet) and the whole resource is written in Spanish, in the neutral Latin American Spanish used in US bilingual and dual-language classrooms. The layout and every download (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Word, PDF) stay exactly the same. See /languages for details.
Spanish resources are written by AI, so like any AI resource they can contain mistakes. Please read them before use; every resource opens in the editor so you can fix a word in seconds.
Yes - the Marking Assistant (/marking) marks a student's answer against your own answer key or rubric. Paste the answer key or rubric and the answer, and you get a score, a criterion-by-criterion breakdown showing where each mark was and wasn't earned, strengths and next steps, and a student-facing comment you can copy. It marks the work - it never rewrites it - and it's free for teachers. Aligned to your subject, grade and standards.
Yes - the Staffroom (/staff) drafts the non-teaching paperwork in seconds: school policies, parent letters, newsletters, risk assessments, behavior/support plans, inspection prep, improvement plans, appraisal targets, observation feedback, meeting agendas, assemblies and CPD outlines. Every document is written for your jurisdiction and state using the right frameworks and terminology, and downloads as Word, PDF or Google Docs. Free accounts get 3; paid plans are unlimited.
Yes. Open any saved document from your dashboard and click โœ๏ธ Edit to change the wording, reword any section with one AI tap, add or remove questions/sections, and see it update live - then download. It works for worksheets, lesson plans, knowledge organizers, sub plans, feedback sheets, exit tickets, review sheets, homework booklets, report comments, activities, unit plans, lesson series and Staffroom documents. Slide decks have their own editor too. Because every export is built from your edits, the Word/PDF/Google versions always match what you see.
Every pack is built around a knowledge organizer - the vocabulary spine the whole lesson draws from - and adapts to the selected grade level. You get: a Lesson Plan (DOCX), a Knowledge Organizer, a Retrieval Starter (story warm-up for Pre-K, warm-up for early elementary, retrieval practice for middle & high school), a Worksheet with answer spaces and an answer key, a Plenary & Exit Ticket, Teacher Notes with IEP and ELL guidance and a misconceptions table, and an editable slide deck for classroom delivery. Text-rich subjects also get a reading & comprehension activity. The documents download as Word, Google Docs or PDF (or one ZIP with everything, including the PowerPoint); the slide deck downloads as editable PowerPoint, opens in Google Slides or presents full-screen in your browser.
Most packs generate in under 60 seconds using our AI. Complex topics with longer durations may take up to 2 minutes.
Yes. Every pack is structured with clear learning objectives, Bloom's Taxonomy levels, Depth of Knowledge (DOK) levels, and references to your chosen standards (Common Core, NGSS, state standards) - exactly aligned to what administrators and instructional coaches expect to see.
Yes - this is one of LessonHQ's most useful features. On any saved resource (in your Dashboard, or a slide deck card), click 'Add matching' and pick what you want next - Worksheet, Knowledge Organizer, Exit Ticket, Lesson Plan or Sub Plan. The new resource is generated using the SAME vocabulary and facts as the original, so the worksheet practices exactly what the slides taught. No more mismatched resources from separate generations.
A Lesson is a folder for one topic that keeps every resource consistent. Start one from any saved resource ('Add matching' โ†’ 'Start a lesson from this') or from the My Lessons page. It builds a shared 'spine' (the key vocabulary and facts) from your first resource, and everything you add afterwards - slides, worksheets, exit tickets - automatically reuses that spine. You can see and open all of a topic's resources in one place, and edit the spine any time.
Yes. Go to 'Curriculum Maps' (in the top-right menu), upload your curriculum map or pacing guide once as a Word, PowerPoint or PDF file, and it's saved to your library. Then hit 'Generate from this' on it and pick any resource - it will be aligned to your curriculum's sequence, terminology and expectations. Upload once, reuse for everything; no need to re-attach it each time.
Yes - this is ideal when you're planning a whole unit. On the Study Booklet, Worksheet or Knowledge Organizer page, upload your curriculum map (or the lesson PowerPoint you deliver), tell us how many lessons it covers, and click 'Split into lessons'. LessonHQ breaks it into that many lessons and lets you build a matching resource for each one with a click - a booklet per lesson, a worksheet per lesson, and so on. Each generated resource counts as one generation. They're all grouped together in your dashboard under that unit, and you can 'Download all' as a single Word (.docx) bundle to print or tweak.
Yes. Set your state in your profile and every resource aligns to your state's academic standards - including named systems like Texas TEKS, Florida B.E.S.T. and Virginia SOL, plus Common Core, NGSS and AP. Explore what's covered by state at lessonhq.us/curriculum.

Yes. From Account Settings, choose 'Pause membership' instead of cancelling. Billing stops straight away and you drop to Free limits, but your plan, saved packs, marketplace listings, earnings and settings are all kept exactly as they are. Hit 'Resume plan' whenever you're ready and you pick up right where you left off - ideal for the summer break or any time you're not teaching.
From Account Settings you can either deactivate (closes your account and cancels billing, but keeps your data in case you return) or request permanent erasure. With erasure, your account closes immediately and your personal data - name, email, login, date of birth, school and any Google connection - is irreversibly removed after a 30-day grace period. To stay fair to teachers who bought your resources, packs you've sold remain available to those buyers and anonymized earnings/transaction records are kept for tax compliance. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.

Marketplace

You can list lesson packs, worksheets, lesson plans, slide decks, activity sheets, and study booklets on the marketplace. After generating any content, click 'List on Marketplace' in the generator panel. Set your own price (you choose, from $1), add a description, and it goes live immediately. Your public seller profile at lessonhq.us/profile/[username] shows all your listings in one place.
You earn 80% of every sale. LessonHQ retains 20% as a platform commission. This is clearly stated in our Terms & Conditions and the seller agreement at the time of listing.
Request a withdrawal from Account Settings once your balance reaches $10. We process payouts to your bank account within 3-5 business days.
Yes, you can deactivate any listing at any time from your dashboard. If you deactivate your account, all listings are automatically removed.

Technical

Documents come as themed PDF (print-ready) and DOCX (Word), plus a ZIP with everything. Activity sheets and study booklets download as PDF and Word (.docx). Slide decks download as editable PowerPoint (.pptx), open in Google Slides (fully editable, share with students) or present full-screen directly in the browser (click 'Present' from your dashboard). Documents can also be exported to Google Docs.
Free users: up to 8 slides. Educator: up to 15 slides. Pro: up to 25 slides - set it with the slide count selector on the generate page before you generate.
The number you choose is the count of TEACHING slides. On top of that, LessonHQ automatically adds a paired 'answer key' reveal slide after each activity (so you can show the model answers once students have had a go), and on longer decks it adds section-divider slides that chapter the lesson. These are added on top of your chosen number, so - for example - picking 25 slides for a lesson with two activities produces about 27 slides. Every slide counts toward a complete, well-paced lesson, never padding.
Yes. The DOCX documents are fully editable in Microsoft Word or Google Docs, and slide decks download as editable PowerPoint or open as fully editable Google Slides presentations. Your chosen theme (colors, fonts) is applied throughout so everything looks great right out of the box.
Yes. From your dashboard, click the 'โ–ถ Present' button on any lesson pack to open a full-screen presentation view. Use arrow keys or the on-screen buttons to navigate between slides. Press Escape to exit. You can also export all slides as a PDF from presentation mode.
Everything you generate is automatically saved to your dashboard. Use the Packs, Activities, Booklets, Series and Slides tabs to find all your content (unit plans appear under Activities; standalone documents - worksheets, lesson plans, study guides, sub plans, feedback, exit tickets and Staffroom documents - all appear under Packs, where you can filter by type). Click 'Open' on any item to reopen it in the generator with all your content fully restored - no need to regenerate. If you built resources from a scheme of work, they're also grouped by unit: use the 'Units' filter at the top of the Packs and Booklets tabs to jump straight to one unit's resources and 'Download all' as a single Word bundle - handy once you've generated hundreds of resources.
Yes. LessonHQ is FERPA and COPPA conscious and privacy-first. We never sell your personal data. Lesson content you generate is stored securely and only visible to you unless you choose to list it on the marketplace.

Student Portal

Yes - there's a dedicated, parent-managed student area, live at lessonhq.us/learn. It offers homework help and test-practice questions aligned to Common Core, state standards and AP courses. It's a separate area from the teacher plans.
The student portal is designed around parent control. Parents create accounts, add student profiles, and manage all data. Parent accounts are for adults (18+), and children never register directly: each child gets a PIN-protected profile with no email needed, and all their data is controlled by the parent account. We comply with COPPA and US student-privacy laws.
Free parents get 8 AI study sessions a month shared across all their children. Student Plus is $4.99 per month - one price that covers up to 3 children on your account (billed to the parent), for unlimited study help. Cancel anytime.
Yes - Home-School Plus is an add-on for parent accounts. For $12.99/month it unlocks the resource generators for home use with a generous family allowance every 30 days: 100 lesson packs, 100 worksheets, 100 lesson plans, 60 slide decks, 150 activity sheets, 20 booklets and 30 tests, with the Unit Planner and Lesson Series included, all aligned to your state's standards, plus a year planner, how-to-teach notes and the Student Portal study tools. It starts with a 7-day free trial (card needed, nothing charged for 7 days, one per account). Manage it from your Parent Dashboard at lessonhq.us/learn/dashboard.
Yes. In the student portal (/learn/revision), add each test date and the time your child has each week. You get a printable day-by-day plan that spaces and mixes subjects, gives weaker subjects more time, keeps rest days and goes light in the final week, with every session linked to study help on that topic. Student Plus and Home-School Plus include full timetables (up to 10). A free parent account can make one timetable and see its first 2 weeks.
